This was an interesting order I received a few weeks ago. I was asked to make a picture out of clay, which would have a blue sky and tulips in it. The size of a picture is 23 x 28 cm. It was a bit hard to make such a large background with a colour gradient, which eventually caught a few air bubbles, although I tried my best to avoid them. Luckily I was able to sand those bumps off.
I quite enjoyed making tulips :)
Beautiful! you did a wonderful job :)
ReplyDeleteLovely. What table top oven are you using? I bought one and it only had 2 temperatures: 120 and 165 degrees C. It would have melted or not cooked my clay!
ReplyDeleteThank you both!
ReplyDeleteJoanne, for baking this picture I used an oven at work (in chemistry lab), since it wouldn't fit in mine :))
At home I use a small tabletop oven, which also has limited temperatures available. To be honest, I just sit and switch the heater on and off every 5 minutes during baking to maintain required temperature :)))) It doesn't bother me at all, because I am doing something else as well when baking.
This is amazing! I love tulips and I think yours are even more beautiful than the real thing! How do you like your dremel workstation? I was thinking about getting one for my dremel.

Amy, thank you! I liked the workstation very much! It is a very useful thing. Although I didn't have some good holder for the beads, I used simple pliers to hold beads when drilling them, which wasn't perfect, because beads were sometimes rotating in pliers. I have just ordered clamp pliers from ebay, I think they will facilitate drilling.
ReplyDeleteYour tulip 'painting' turned out fantastic Zuleyka!
ReplyDeleteThose bubbles can be a pain Eh? Did you try baking it upside down in a ceramic tile sandwich? That can really help keep the bubbles at bay. ~Cindy lietz
Cindy, thank you so much!
ReplyDeleteThe thing is that the picture is very large, bigger than any tiles I have :)
